Hello!
This isn’t my first post as I just found this nice part of the forum
My name is Karl, physician by profession and hobbyist watchmaker. Most of the things I do in terms of mechanics is watchmaking related but I also do a fair bit of jewelry making.
I recently got a Myford ML7 that I’m going over and trying to make as precise as possible. Learning all the time!
Apart from the ML7 I have various smaller tools and a lot of specialized watchmaking equipment. Most of my metal work at the moment is being done with hand tools (saws, files) and my 6mm Geneva pattern Lorch watchmakers lathe. My next tool purchase is a small milling machine with rotary table. A Sherline 5410. My work is almost always metric so I’m going with metric leadscrews. I also intend to replace the ones on my ML7 for metric screws.
In the long run my goal is to make a watch from the ground up, from raw stock. I’m starting out soon with a pendulum wall clock which will feature an engraved dial. Which is another skill I’m working on.
Glad to be here and looking forward to learning more about small machine work!
Best regards
Karl
