      Just joined the forum and I thought I should introduce myself. I'm an engineer during the day and (sadly) I list engineering as one of my hobbies as well. During the day I work on woodworking machines – from simple table top DIY stuff through to quarter million pound CNC controlled machines. When I am not working I have a batch of motorbikes and a 1971 Land Rover to look after. Having recently built a garage/workshop I'm now in the process of equipping it, so far, amongst other things, I have obtained a Clarke CMD mill (with DRO) and two Viceroy lathes (evaluating them to find which of them is the best before I part with one).

            Welcome along, bikes are my passion as well. I ran series Land Rovers for over 35 years and only parted with the last one when I retired, I could not justify keeping all the toys !

              Hello Martin,

              Welcome.

              Being unable to get enough of engineering is quite understandable, but I don't think there's any treatment for it. The only thing to be done, is to hang around with people that will only encourage you, and possibly make it even worse.

              cheeky

              All the best,

              Daniel

                Hello Martin!

                I don't think thats an unusual situation on this forum, plenty of ex-engineers introduced to it through their trade of any sort. electrical, mechanical, cnc operators, carpenters, welders, shot blasters, bar loaders, assemblers and deburrers you name it,

                also a decent bunch who don't have any connection to the trade at all, some how miraculously discovered the wonders of engineering maybe through model making or sheer curiosity.

                I myself was sucked in by the delight of anything miniature or mechanical in nature, and through the trade.

                Enjoy =)
