Hi everyone, thanks for the add. I must confess that I am not really a model engineer. But I do a bit of metalwork associated with maintaining, driving and racing my 1948 MG…I don't have an engineering background so I hope I can learn a bit about tools and techniques from you more experienced folks!

Hello Dave and welcome. Do you have a workshop or are you aspiring to one?

I (and no doubt others) would love to know the designation of your MG.

          Brian

            Hello Brian,

My garage is my workshop!…currently adding some better tools to supplement my hammers & spanners…

My MG is an Australian built cafe racer style 1948 TC which I use mostly for hillclimbs and sprints, I'd attach a photo if I knew how to do it!

              Welcome to the forum, Dave,

There are several bike and car restorers here.

                Welcome to the Forum

Are you UK based now, or are like the TC down under?

Not all of build Road Engines or Locos, (but maybe the latter! )

I am in the UK Howard, I live in Nottingham.

The car was imported in 2015, I aquired it in 2017 and have been competing in it for the last two seasons. You can see the car in the attached photo wearing no. 84.

My next plan is to bolt on a supercharger for which I will need to make some bits. I also want to make an alloy bonnet and some suspension parts. So you can probably guess why I need to improve my metalworking skills!

However my immediate challenge is to sort out my Fobco Star so that I can run it on single phase power.

MANY years ago, when I was at Shrewsbury, the head of the Mat Lab ran a TC with a Shorrock blower on it,. Triple belt driven, as I recall.

Being sliding vane it did not make the racket of the Roots type on our engines, thank good ness.

                      Hello and welcome Dave…

Looks a bit like the pits at Shelsley, not far from me if it is. It's a pretty little car you have there, hope to see it one day.

Lots of good stuff on here, hope you enjoy looking around!

Yes Henry, Shelsley, I usually do 1 or 2 events there each year.

I also lived in Shrewsbury, until 1993 when I moved to Nottingham, wasn't really into MG TCs in those days though, still messing about with Fords!

Welcome along Dave, from another petrol head. Mainly old pre war bikes for me now, room and money put the cars beyond reach when I retired they had to go.

Thank you Chris. My brother is the one with the bikes, has a collection of BSA and Triumph off roaders and runs the classic Bultaco club now…

                            It's in the blood!
