Hello everyone. I am a 66 year old retired RAF helicopter pilot who is trying to learn basic engineering techniques. My father was a RAF engineering apprentice and gave me a good grounding. 15 years ago I inherited a LeBlond 10” Regal lathe along with some tooling. I recently purchased a Warco WM 16 Mill and am busy teaching myself to use it and collecting tooling. I have converted my single garage into a workshop and enjoy pottering about and making the odd tool. Plan to add DRO to the mill and continue my self learning apprenticeship. Would like to get to the stage where I can start to build a steam engine from a castings kit.

Welcome to the forum Matt, the LeBlond is a nice machine to own. Enjoy the learning and ask away for any answers, someone on here will know.

Welcome Matt. DRO on the mill will make it much more user friendly as I found with mine.

Please let us know what engine you want to make when you have decided.

            Brian

Welcome, there is a weath of experience here so you should do fine, they have certainly tolerated some very daft questions from me.

                Welcome!

Lots of help and knowledge on her, for a huge range of subjects.

Is there a M E society fairly local to you? There seem to be several with sites on Google.

If so, join, so that soon, hopefully, you will be able to socialise with fellow enthusiasts, and get face to help, advice and demonstrations.

Thank you all for your encouraging replies. I have my first daft question which I will try and find an appropriate Topic to post on.

                    Welcome to the forum Matt,

LeBlond machines have a good reputation.
