      Hello,

I am 57 and an experienced modeller but not really with metal. I learned basic engineering skills many years ago in the school workshop but apart from making the odd piece on a mini lathe and drill press along with hand tools I have not really done much. The possibility of moving house soon will hopefully mean I will have more workshop space and can get a milling machine. Until then I will continue with an assortment of simple projects to get some practice.
I will probably be asking some quite basic questions on the forum so please bear with me.

I would be interested in stationary steam engines and things like that. Right now I really need to learn so solder small boilers. I have a basic steam engine as sold by Forest Classics. Ideally I would be looking for some sort of starter kit with all the equipment and materials and a good set of instructions.

                      Welcome to the forum Al,

No question too basic if you don't know the answer! We all started off in the same place.
