      Hi there,

My name is Ian and I live in North Yorkshire. I'm 71 years old and have been around machining for many years. It really started with a Drummond Round Bed lathe when I was about 16 years old. If any of you have used one I'm sure you will have a LOT of memories about them. crying Anyway I now own a Boxford which suits me fine (most of the time) and a 626 mill.

I was searching the internet looking for a way of making a spindle lock for the mill when I came across your forum and I spotted some one discussing a DTC Shetack. Its a circular device for tapping drill sizes, and all sorts of other stuff that is of interest to a machinist. I already have one that I was given by a friend many years ago and use it quite a lot.

However when I'm using the lathe invariably its near the milling machine and vice versa angry so I wanted to buy another. I searched in vain for ages and then actually found some one selling them. I have put the link bellow. Maybe you already know about them or perhaps it will help somebody.

You will have to copy and paste the link because I don't know how to include a "clickable" link.

Hello Ian and welcome. You are bound to find lots to interest you on here and any questions usually result in lots of answers.

I too have a Boxford lathe which I'm pleased with although its a downsize from a Henry Milnes.

                Hello Ian,

Welcome to the Forum from another Wood, although as far as I know, we are not related

I too live in North Yorkshire (Thirsk) and have a few years on you at 79. I do have to admit to being an incomer to the county with my origins in S London until we got bombed out in 1941 and I finally settled up here over 30 years ago.

My main interest is in machine tools and restoration work. A recent commission was a full rebuild of an original Norton screw cutting gearbox for a 12 inch swing American Hendey lathe built in 1902 which had damage to every one of the 15 gears, all of which I re-cut in either new material or from cut down originals where it was appropriate. I have a pretty well equipped workshop in which to do these things

I have had one of those little circular charts for many years and used it a lot in past years, but sadly the need for magnification to read it is the order of the day now and it lives in the back of the measuring department cupboard.

                Regards

                Brian

Monument tools still list the smaller MON530J they do not seem to do the large one.
