Hi guys,
I found my way here after many years on and off wanting to make the Whittle V8 nitro engine model, but never having the money or the patience to get it done previously. Now I am back, and on the look out for a Unimat 3 with the milling attachment and a decent collection of micro fittings!
I am by no means an expert, but I have used several lathes, mills, surface grinders etc so I know my way around machines, and when I found out how small the Whittle V8 actually is, I rejoiced that i would be able to make most of it on a lathe that would be quite happy on a table, in a warm room, and not out in the cold garage (I can’t speak for other people, but that is the source of most of my procrastination!)
I have a habit of jumping between hobbies/projects, but having my own lathe has been an ambition of mine since I was about 12, so I hope I atleast get a decent way through it before taking a short break.
I don’t know if anyone bridges the gap between model engineering and Rc Aircraft, but I’ve got a balsa Acrowot which some philistine fitted an electric motor to, and I am hoping I can adorn it with a nice V8 and do a nice hotrod style colour scheme to match!
Regards,
Pete
