I have just signed up so this my first posting.

I am still trying to decide which 'mini lathe' to buy.

Hello Stuart and welcome. I can't help with the mini-lathe decision as I had to downsize to a Boxford but there are plenty of people on here who will be able to advise.

All the best with whatever you choose.

Are you thinking of modelling with it and if so, what sort of thing?

          Brian

Plenty of others have questioned the same on here. It depends a lot on your background. I worked in engineering all my working life as a machine tool designer and still bought a Chinese lathe and mill. Just used them as a basic machine to improve at little cost rather than payout for a bigger machine that I couldn't house with more expensive tooling.

              Welcome to the forum Stuart.

The ones with brushless motors are best. A proper UK dealer is a good idea so you get backed by warranty, advice and spares, just in case.
