Hello just signed up as a member. I have been developing an interest in model engineering as a follow on from radio controlled model aircraft and old motor bikes. I have a Myford ML10 lathe and a Warco WM14 mill.

I want to make small IC engines but not for flight as I am fully committed to flying electric. I have started a Fire Fly and so far so good. I have bought some books but will need all the advice I can get.

Welcome to the Forum Andy, if you have not already seen it there is a rather good build thread of the Fire Fly here if I say so myself. It's a nice little engine, feel free to ask any questions.

Thanks for the reply Jason. I found your thread on the internet some time ago. I printed it out and have spent ages reading it. I am building it in the same sequence you describe and have got as far as the crank case with the main bearing pressed in. The bearing is quiet a good fit but it can be pushed in by hand just. May have to loctite in to be sure.

Your build thread is very good and gave me the confidence to start.

            Cheers

            Andy

                 Welcome Andy,

there are quite a few people on the site with similar interests to you, including myself. I have been a life long Model Engineer. Over the years I have built model ships & boats, Model aircraft and their engines, Steam Locomotives and stationary engines. Currently I am getting to grips with CNC machining with a view to making some more I.C. engines.

I'm sure that you will get lots of help with any problems you may encounter.

                Bob
