Hmm. Anyone else here used to hang onto buses while cycling as a lad?

      Russell.

P.S. Legal note: I'm not encouraging the practise!

There was a brief craze for doing this on the estate where I lived when I was a young lad. It stopped when one boy was flung from his bike as the bus braked for a corner. He was left in a persistant vegetative state due to head injuries.

The perils and dangers of baked beans has been known for years.

These were even highlighted as part of a public awareness campaign by the Serendipity Singers in 1964. Of particular concern was the effect on the sense of hearing.

Any record buying teenager of the time would have had a copy of "Beans in My Ears"! I am arranging to send a copy to HSE in order to bolster their efforts,

But fear not, I have no intention of causing further public outcry by bringing to the attention of HSE, Ministry of Agriculture, Food & Fisheries, etc the dangers of fruit highlighted in another of their hits "Peaches Grown on Lilac Trees".

Can't believe I have written this and am about to post it!

Sad or what? But it makes a change from banging on about silver solder!

          Keith

Never mind tin cans. No one has mentioned the deadly dangers of bean-fed flatulence yet.

Is it true that it's very unwise for aircrew to eat Baked Beans just before taking an unpressurised aircraft up to 30,000'?

THEY should do something about this!

My usual comment about H&S pundits is that they should not have doors on their offices, for fear of trapping their fingers.

I am told that near here is a factory where the H&S office has a door leading into the main office, but the inner office for the "supremo"', has no door. At least someone seems to practice what he preaches.

Has Common Sense, just like telling the truth, been made illegal, or is it just extinct? Seems to be very little about these days.

I once had a 10 layer mexican Nacho platter before flying home from the US. Convinced I took an hour off the flight time…Those re-fried beans are awesome laugh

Bet you were popular in an airtight flight cabin!

I assume Steve didn't need an aircraft to make the return journey. Eating a 10 layer Nacho platter would be enough to put me into orbit…

That is typical of some of the silly rumours attached to H & S that people love to publish

If such a thing was a deemed risk – such as in children's nurseries- then they fit finger guards to the hinge side of the door & that is quite common

However, I tend to agree wholeheartedly with the second statement about truth.
