Hi can any one help me please.

I am trying to remove my 3 Jaw chuck to fit a 4 jaw.

I cannot seem to be able to undo it.

It is a 1 1/2 thread 6 tpi it says in the instruction Manuel.

I had tried holding the shaft on the Left side and Tapped the Chuck key but the shaft just unscrewed on the left.

Is their a way of Locking the shaft so you can unscrew it please.

The book is useless for info nothing to tell you how to change it.

I have the feeling its not been of in many years.

      Ron

I would place a block of wood on the bed to protect it and clamp a piece of bar in the chuck in between the jaws at right angles to normal and then hit the bar with a nice large hammer, copper/hide would be my hammer of choice but any thing reasonable will do. Do not tap it hit you are knocking in a panel pin more like you mean it a sharp hit.

On no account use the gears to lock the spindle,a strap wrench on a plain part of the lathe spindle will provide some grip, while you belt the chuck, big lead hammer and a really solid blow.

Thank you guys put 1 1/2 stainless bar in with wood on Lathe Bed sharp couple taps with Hide Hammer it came.

Tried first using an old large chuck Key as ir had 3/4 inch bar in it.

Clamped in vice with the handle between the jawes it Bent but stainless did the trick.

              thank you
