      Hi,

im very new to this hobby. I’ve recently purchased a Silvercrest Jinty.

I have no hand tools, spammers, oil can etc.

is there anywhere where I can purchase such items?

      thanking all in advance.

      Paul

A few to get started with.. ..I'm sure others will have suggestions.

What vague quarter of the country are you in? – sometimes it's good to be able to discuss options with a supplier over the counter face to face, and there might be someone closer to you..

Do you know what threads are used on these premade engines? many of the model engineering suppliers tend to sell BA spanners but if Metric is used then you will need to track down small tools to suit in which case some of the mainland European sources may be a better bet.

The Gauge '3' Kingscale loco's I've tested have metric safety valve fittings, so I assume that's what is used throughout.

              Regards,

Most probably metric threads, chap in the club has a Silvercrest loco and is having trouble with his safety valves, the thread on those is 12mm x 1mm pitch.

So most of the threads are metric.

                  it’s the scanners/sockets I’m looking for.

                  regards

Oh yes, I live in Australia, so everything has to be electronic.

Have you found your local Model Engineering club? You are going to need to to have a track to run it unless you build your own and they will be able to help you out, including probably having some members with bits to give/sell you.
