Hackfly Locomotive information Needed

Hi

Can anybody possibly help me or point me in the direction of some information on a Hackfly Locomotive.

 

i am buying some bits of ebay for a Hackfly, but I cant seem to find any information about it.

It comes complete with the origonal articels from the model engineer but thats about it.

 

Is this loco known under any other descripition?

Hi Neil , Hackfly is a freelance engine design so there is no prototype information available . It somewhat resembles several types of early industrial and narrow gauge engine but no particular one . LBSC took a dislike to the design ( or more likely the poor designer ) and ridiculed it in a supplementary article and came up with ‘ nescessary modifications ‘ and an alternative design boiler . As far as I can see from the published drawings the original design is perfectly sound and would provide basis for a good working track engine . I’ve seen a published picture of one built (possibly by Gilbert Lindsay) in ME circa 1970’s . That’s probably all the information available . Michael Williams .
