      Hi everyone,

I’m currently drawing up in Fusion 360, parts of a GWR 12 ton standard goods wagon using the RCH drawings I downloaded a long time ago. On the drawing which includes the ‘W Frame (axleguards)’, the gap between the vertical inside edges is marked as 9 and 1/8th inches, but another drawing shows the oil axle box as being a 9inch type.

My understanding from looking at photos of the arrangement is that the axlebox slides on a pair of rails riveted to the W Frame which wrap around the inside edges of the frame. …but there isn’t room for any thickness of plate to fit between the frame and the axle box sliding surfaces.

Are the riveted slider bars let-in to the W Frame?

Here are a couple of screen captures showinig both drawings. Of course I could be totally wrong in assuming that the W Frame, with a 9 and 1/8th inch gap is the correct one for 9inch axlebox.

As always, thank you for any help.

      Ed.
