Worth having a look here for various low profile clamps. I've been meaning to make some but haven't got a "round tuit".

Eh? Seemed rather a neat aside to me, even if it did take me a while to fall in.

I now see Michael is up at 8088 – makes more sense in this PC-centric world!

Mind you, I have not seen an 8086 nor 8088 in decades, and my 1802 based computers went "away" back in the late 80s…

(yes, neat clamps by the way – some people make them themselves, but…)

Of course the 8088 is a bit of a downgrade, only an 8-bit external bus. sad

I've got a few mitee-bite clamps, same general idea. They came with my Novamill on eBay, couldn't have afforded them otherwise! Carr Lane clamps "from £13.60"…

Sorry if my post was abrupt … no offence was intended blush

I had just been called to go out shopping, did get Rik's joke, and wanted to post 'something' for 8088

                          .

I had already used the Maths co-processor 8087 in my 'Russian Roulette' reply to Duncan

I've still got an original Compaq Portable that runs an 8088. Pretty close to the original IBM PC. Mine's got the full 640k RAM(!!) and an internal 30MB "Hard Card" HDD with Norton Commander, DOS 3.3, Lotus 123 etc. Originally it had DOS 2.1, IIRC. How times change….

Those clamps look similar to some of the Mitee Bite clamps. I fancy having a go at making some up one day, given the eye-watering prices they want for them.

Harold Hall has some designs for low profile clamps on his web site and books, l think they were also in MEW.

That's quite a milestone Michael. But I don't think I'll be around for the next one (80286)!
