      Hi everyone,

I'm a home shop machinist based out of Ontario Canada and just wanted to say hello to everyone.

Looking forward to being part of the discussions and posting some of the work I do.

      Justin

Hello Justin and welcome. What sort of machining do you do?

                  Thanks everyone!

Right now I'm in a phase of making tools to make tools so I can complete a project. I really want to start on a Zeiss style mirror grinding machine for telescope optics – which is a rather large project that involves a significant amount of machining. But first I need to finish that cut knurling tool I'm working on.

As for machines I have a 6.5" (165mm) Standard Modern long bed lathe (13" swing for north americans). I have a Rong Fu round column mill drill, a 7" (177mm) metal shaper and I'm currently doing a spindle rebuilt on a Delta Rockwell surface grinder. The surface grinder is a long way off as I think I might need to machine up an entire new spindle for it because of some very shoddy work done by the previous owner.

I also recently aquired a ISEL CNC router table that I need to finish mounting a spindle on. I'm hoping to use it for engraving work and profiling in wood and aluminum.

I also post videos on Youtube – I might include them from time to time.

Welcome Justin, lots of ATMs on here.

I just looks at a few of your photos and the drive stuff looks really interesting. Thanks John.

Regarding the ATM hobby (and I know this isn't a ATM forum) it seems that there isn't as much interest as there once was. Maybe I'm wrong. Just seems many folks (at least over on this side of pond) are losing a bit of interest.

I've always had a love for ATM – never had the time or the tools. Now with my engineering degree out of the way (I'm not that young – did at night school with kids – not overly recommended) I want to build some high precision optics and scopes. We'll see where it goes.
