Hi
I bought some Glanze tools from Chronos some time ago, they take the TCMT 11 series tips. I have used both Sandvik and Kenametal tips and have found both these cut well producing a good finish on most materials. If you look at the Sandvik catalogue, available on line at Sandvik, they recommend various types and grades for different materials. That said I have not followed their recommendations, cost and having to hold many different tips, and found that they all seem to cut very well whether roughing or fine cutting. I have however bought various tip sizes ranging from 0.2mm, 0.4mm and 0.8mm in order to meet specific requirements of some jobs.
Generally I have been very satisfied with the results but still use HSS tools and solid carbide depending on circumstances. I initially found that turning with insert tools took a little bit of getting used to but varying the speed and cut depth soon overcame these problems.
Hope this ramble helps
.
Cheers
Martin
