I'm subscribed to most of those mentioned; but my top 3 to date are Doubleboost, Joe Pieczinsky, Ade's workshop, not necessarily in that order.

As this thread has been resuscitated, I'll add a few and repeat a few already mentioned because they're good. In no particular order…

Robrenz. Lots of presicion stuff and techniques who frequently inspires…

Stefan Gotteswinter. Trained and employed as a machinist, and often enjoys doing precision machining on small things. Sometimes boring, often very good!

Cà Lem. Seems to work in a back street and making the best of his surroundings. Very talented. His recent construction videos of a 6-jawed chuck sums up his channel.

Weldingtipsandtricks. Probably the best welding channel out there. Succinct and to the point. Very educational.

          The Engineering Mindset. VERY educational!

This Old Tony. Covers some interesting stuff in an entertaining way. Not so many videos lately due to a death in his family.

Clickspring and Clickspring Clips. A talented watch/clockmaker currently constructing the Antikythera mechanism using the presumed methods of the day, as has already been mentioned. I learnt about bluing screws from him.

A lot of channels I used to watch, mainly American, but they've become commercial and samey. Some characters I've grown to dislike intensely for various reasons. One I occasionally watch for fun is Keith Rucker, not to learn anything, only for amusement value when he "bubba's", or rather "Rucker's", a restoration, or for shock value (his restoration of a precision level will leave you open-mouthed in disbelief before exclaiming "NNOOOOO!!!" as he delivers the coup de grâce!). There are a lot of unfinished projects that presumably died a death by Rucker off-camera. …and is health and safety leaves a lot to be desired. Erf, but highly entertaining as a result. …but there are plenty like that (I watched a 'restoration video' where someone completely butchered a Zeiss Ikoflex camera, using molegrips to undo the rear lens retaining ring and cleaned the silver mirror with a scouring pad [the comments section was full of praise of their handywork!!!!], but that's a different forum, and I digress).

          Cheers,

          Duff.

I have recently stumbled across Julian Mowlam's channel. A good build log of a 2" Fowler Showman's traction engine. As someone building a 1" Minnie it is very interesting to see the extra level of detail and complexity in a 2" model.

Tim's Railway (featuring on his "Way out West " channel) is, at least to my mind, an interesting and engaging look at a real world 'farm railway'.

Some of his other projects make worthwhile viewing – the exploding boiler episode is – sobering.

Another YouTube channel I've become quite interested in recently is Cutting Edge Engineering, with an Australian chap called Curtis. Seems to be a one man band operation repairing heavy plant machinery, a lot of diggers, hydraulic cylinders and welding. Certainly not model engineering, but strangely fascinating to watch him work, he certainly knows his stuff. If you are easily offended, don't watch the out-takes at the end, as the language gets a bit strong!

Pauls garage is a youtube contributor I discovered when trying to teach myself to cast metal He started as a novice and made many mistakes, but, he is now starting a series where he will build a lathe by Gingery. I believe he will be making most of the lathe by making his own patterns and moulds. He will be using the American equivalent of what we cal zl12. An aluminium/zinc alloy. I don't think he owns a lathe or mill, so it should be interesting. His presenting style is quirky, which I like. His early videos are well worth watching too.

It's probably widely known at this point, but I have to say Cutting Edge Engineering is pretty excellent, it's particularly interesting to watch how Curtis has really refined his workflow for jobs he does regularly, but actually takes you along for the ride when he's doing something out of his comfort zone.

alistairc123 is a similar viewing experience, albeit bit less polished in his presenting style, but if anything more impressive in the type and scale of work he does.

There's also a Taiwanese chap whose name eludes me but occasionally posts interesting videos of him running a 120" VBL or an Elgamill, which is also surprisingly good.

I particularly like the way all three don't make a big deal of things or labour the point on exposition and just crack on with some really very difficult work, on camera. The combination of fabrication and machining also appeals to me as compared to purely one or the other.

I like “Mr Factotum’s Workshop”. He has a series on building a Steam Loco from scratch and is currently building a Screw cutting Micro lathe from vintage castings plus many other interesting projects.
