I recently bought a Glanze 40mm end mill on a 30 Int arbor,
unfortunately it dosnt fit my spindle (Harrison universal mill) because the
slots where the driving lugs fit are too narrow. All my other 30 Int arbors
have slots that are wide enough.

When I check the spec for 30 Int arbors the slots are not
specified, so I’m trying to understand if Glanze have made a mistake or there
are narrower slots in use and therefore I should either open the slots on the
arbor or make a pair of lugs specially for this arbor.

Probably made for a quick change spindle, these have a special flange as they don’t use a drawbar and rely on a helical nut to locate and hold them.

Narrow lugs will work Ok even on wider flanges as the forces are in all one direction.

Glanze might be grateful for the feedback if it means their product will fit more machines. It doesn’t hurt to tell them of your problem.

I remember having had the same problem with one Int30 holder. One of the surprises when buying some ‘odd lots’ when I stumble over them…

Jist had a look; it was a MK3 sleeve, so is very rarely used only for a couple of large drills.

I solved this problem with the help of a humble angle grinder and some minutes work. The looks are not so pretty, but it works, and it is only for transmitting the torque.

The more complicated way would be to make stepped ‘fingers’. On my machine these are screwed on to the spindle.

              Greetings, Hansrudolf
