      Hi All,

I joined this forum to find out if I could make a Generator from a design I thought of in 2000. The design is a kind of Hybrid engine for an electric vehicle with no connection to the wheels other that by electric cable, of course it would charge the batteries while going slow or stopped. This should mean that the generator runs at it's best speed all the time while the vehicle goes faster and slower.

Having looked through some brilliant engineering on this site, I came to the conclusion, that I am not up to it, have attached 6 images that are frames in an animation I made to help me explain the concept.

I hope that someone will find it interesting, and will have a go at making it. I will answer questions if needed.

          Hi Terry ,

Many designs for reciprocating and free piston engine / generator systems already exist .

For your design to be of interest it would have to have significant cost/performance advantages over what has gone before .

If you think your design has such advantages then please try to identifty them and then get back to me .

          Regards ,

          Michael Williams .

            Hi Michael,

            Thanks for your reply.

I designed this (As I normally do) without seeing what others have done before. Then I check to see if it has been done before. I have now seen similar engines, but none where the generating magnets are powered by opposing pistons. This has the advantage of the magnets and coils accelerating and passing each other faster. This will give more electrical powere than the shuttle type of generator.

With no crank, the compression can be varied to the best for the circumstances, by the amount of fuel used against the powere taken off.

            Cheers, Camerart.
