The problem is I keep dfinding designs quicker than I can make them For instance I really should make the Bassett-Lowke equivalent to keep this one company

Morning Jason, I see from the ad that the Bassett engine is quite small at 7/16" bore and only 3.5" to the top of the cylinder. If you do make it would you go with those sizes or scale it up, I think it would be quite impressive at such a small size.

Well assuming they are not including the handle on the steam valve then it's only 1/4" shorter than the Gamages which was quite small and fiddly. For example the drilled steam passages to either end of the cylinder were only 1.2mm dia.

I'll see haw it scales and maybe go for 12mm bore rather than 7/16" which would just make it a touch larger.

I watched the video again and realised how small the Gamages is when you picked it up. Out of interest is it the smallest stationary engine you have built or have you built anything smaller.?

I suppose it depend on what you are measuring, the Muncaster No 1 is a smaller bore at 12mm but the overall engine is a bit larger. The half size version of the Jowitt is also 12mm but looks bigger than the Gamage's engine as it's a chunkier shape.
