when i was a bit younger i was privileged to know very well the late Freddie Dinnis who died in 1989.
his son alan has recently written a biography of his father and Freddie's fascinating career and the up and downs of the boatyard industry in Cowes, Isle of Wight.
the book is produced and published by Cowes Heritage and is a very good read.
anyway for all of you who are lucky enough to have FSD miniature pressure gauges fitted to your locos or steam plants here's a pic of the great man himself, and exactly as i remember him. the dead weight tester is in the foreground, and one of freddie's miniature precision gauges attached.
