Hi Guys, just a quick reminder that next Sunday sees another 'Model Engineers Day' at the Forncett Industrial Steam Museum smiley

It looks like another enjoyable day coming up among the backdrop of the full size engines in Steam.

I shall be off here for a few days but I'm sure Bill Starling will answer any questions you may have.

      Maybe see you there?

      Regards – Ramon

          Thanks Ramon.

As well as a wide range of models to look at, many in action, we will be having a demonstration of a spark erosion machine, which should be interesting.

          Hope to see you there.

          Bill.

I will be there chaps…but working on the big ones! I hope Miranda will take lots of pictures.

For those of you within travelling distance, it is a fabulous day! Do try to make it there.

            Andy

First visit to the Forncett museum.

Very impressed with what was on show and the grandsons' thought it was really "cool" especially the steam boats.

Will definitely go again next year.

                A cracking day.

Sorry that I got stuck on the boiler nearly all day and only got out just in time to help everyone pack up!

Never mind, it was great explaining the workings of the full-sized engines, particularly the condensor for the 1879 Gimson beam engine…it's about the only thing I really know about apart from the boiler nerd

I hope to have a bit more to exhibit next year…but it filled a gap on the table (thanks Ramon for the kind words)

                Andy

Cracking day it certainly was Andy. I was quite hoarse by the time I got home. That's the trouble when you are exhibiting – despite best intentions to get around and see what others have done the opportunity never seems to arise – I totally missed all that was going on outside apart from seeing it at a distance as I ran the I/C engines.

Good to see at least one forum member came along – glad you liked it Len. Next year will see the event 'Coming of Age' – celebration indeed.

Sue took several pics and Bill is sending some his friend took – hopefully there will be enough for a short article if David will oblige.Unfortunately the light was so bright outside with the side windows much on the tables was brightly back lit – good for viewing but not for picture taking.

                  Here's to next years '21st'

                  Regards – Ramon

P.S. How could I forget – Bill, you did us proud, you really did a good job. A big thanks for all your effort on our behalf yesyes

I had hoped to come along but sadly I was wizzed into hospital at the weekend and have only just returned home.
What a shame, sounds like you guys had a great time.
I know Sandown is around the corner, what else is coming up for a Norfolk boy ?

Well Chris if you are up to it theres the last open day at Hardwick airfield museum next weekend. It's not a engineering do but if you have an interest in aircraft you'll probably be able to get as close to a couple of Mustangs as you could wish for. Privately owned they are based there and usually fly out and in at some point in the day. Normally, at this last open day, there are visiting aircraft too but it depends on the day – certainly seen Spitfires there in the past.

Hardwick is close to Topcroft near Hempnal.

I shall be there with my other – plastic – hat on but it's worth a visit never the less

                      Hope you are feeling better

                      Regards – Ramon

Only four weeks till this year's – the 21st – annual Model Engineers' Day at the Forncett Steam Museum. I know there are quite a few members of this forum within traveling distance of south Norfolk, so do come and join us. It would be great to see you and put faces to names. We've already got several interesting new exhibits, as well as old favourites. If you'd like to exhibit something, PM me an e-mail address and I'll send you an invitation and entry form. See also the website Events page and Ramon Wilson's write-up of last year's Day in ME no. 4447 for 11th Jan.

                        Best wishes,

                        Bill.

It might help if I mention that Model Engineers' Day at Forncett is on Sunday 6th October!

                          Bill.
