Got this from the AustinSevenFriends.com forum, and thought it would be of interest.

        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=buZMpx2A3es

Two Austin Seven engines coupled to a standard Seven gearbox.

Wonderful is all I can say about it, and pretty quiet as well.

Would have our regulators in apoplexy.

Pity this ingenuity has (vertically) been banned/destroyed here & in Euroland.

          Try this,

**LINK**        But it does'nt seem to go to what I thought it might, you might find some thing if you look hard enough.     In the window at the top of the page, type American Austen Flat Opposed 8 by John Owens, or at least part of that, and you will find it.  Ian S C

There are several V8s out there that use a pair of 4 cylinder motorcycle blocks & heads, popular in kit cars. Just type "Hayabusa V8" into google, think they have a bit more poke that a pair of A7 enginessmile o

Another example of joined motors was the two 6 cylinder diesel truck engines that were joined side by side for the Sherman tanks during WW2, Or the 5 Chrysler 6 cylinder petrol/gas engines that were joined radially and geared together, also for a version of the Sherman. Ian S C

Does two Bristol Centauruses (or Centauri) geared together in the Brabazon count?

Locally a similar araingment was made by joining two Lanz Bulldogs in tandem (it may have been two Marshalls, but I don't think so). My late next door neighbour had one of these set ups, he blamed that for his deafness in his later years. Ian S C

Combining two is one thing, I know of one case where one was "sawn" in half to make a motorbike engine. The engine I'm sure was from a Morris, not an Austin though.

Beautifully executed, but "interesting" on corners, I would think.

Best I've seen was the vertical twin OHC Norton, built by a man in York, round about 1950 / 1960. Someone will have a picture.
