Another part of my past life has gone.
After many enjoyable years of developing K9 it went down South today with a car load of spares.
Hope the new owner can make it go faster.
I have no distractions now and can get get back to my latest mission.
Have seen so many of my age group mainly due to ill health give up or sell the things they loved to do.
As was told by the buyer an ex model record holder, many years ago another top man and engineer now gone said watch Windross he will be fast at that time was doing about 112mph when others did 120+mph.
Determination is the name of the game but enjoy what you are doing as another competitors wife told me you are always so cheerful even if a disaster strikes.
That remark reminded me of a very enjoyable time in the heart and chemotherapy wards at York Hospital even if the thoughts of possible failure was not far away.
Cracking on in the workshop now just enjoy even if a bit daunting at times.

        Steam record dreams.

I think in 1998 this car was hoping to break the car steam record at Elvington but problems arose.

Does anyone know what happened to the car?

You would have to do a bit of investigating on the following:-

pretty sure I saw a streamlined steam record attempt car in the Lakeland Motor Museum on holiday some years ago.
The pictures kind of rang a bell as well.

Thanks found it there the picture at the museum shows it with a bubble type windscreen compared to my magazine picture.

Memory cells working someone said he had problems seeing the course.

Pellandine's intention was to break the world land-speed record for steam cars which stood at 127.66 mph (205.45 km/h). He made a number of attempts to set a record, but was repeatedly thwarted by technical problems. The last attempt was in 1991. Subsequently sold at Christie's, this historic car can be viewed at the Lakeland Motor Museum in Backbarrow, Cumbria.

Purely by chance, I had been reading ME from 2000 and there is an article with diagrams of this very car.
Will check if OK to scan and put the pages in my album (copyright and all that ).

A friend in marshalling the speed record scene has been in touch he was at Peter Pellandines record attempts he also thanked me for letting him know where it was now.

Thanks to V8Eng for the guidance to trace it.

Am hoping my friend can let me know why Peter never broke the record.

Windy it’s good to know that I still have the odd memory cell working in spite of lockdown.

Inspiration went to Beaulieu unfortunately that was after my last visit there.
