some suggestions for Dave Fenner on the 5 way tailstock turret in MEW 164:
-on the turret, the tool holder holes are shown square bottomed but described as drilled. Suggest showing the angled lines on the turret drawing for the hole bottoms (unless you intend them to be slot drilled.)
-a knockout hole into the tool holder holes from the back would be a good idea in case a toolholder ever gets stuck.
-on the pivot pin head a chamfer or ring turned in to prevent the points of the hex wearing on the turret would be a good idea
-M3 screws are very small threads for frequent tooling use. The engagement of an M3 screw to a flat on the toolholder will not take much torque from a cutting tool. A bigger thread or better yet a locking wedge pin with a screw in the centre at the side of each toolholder would be more robust. (If the M3 threads do wear away or strip, there’s not much meat to do a bigger one.) The toolholder should have a generous flat to resist torque, and I would turn a shallow relief groove in the centre of each toolholder as well to allow only the ends of the diameter to locate it and reduce the likelihood of jamming (bobbin style shape).
