A friend has damaged his Chester WYV H42B6 Champion mill, the optical coupler came adrift and the 3 wires broke away from the tiny board. I’ve been asked to solder the wires back to where they came from. Can any one inform me which wire goes where,(colour) or suggest a test method which will enable me John/Brian solve the problem.

        Hello John,

All I can suggest is magnifying lens work to look at the fracture surfaces on the board and all three wires to match them up first. There will be little differences if you can spot them.

It might be timely to add strain relief or encapsulation afterwards once the repair has been tested satisfactorily.

        Regards  Brian
