Farmers engine

Is anyone building or built the Farmers engine as described in “Traction Engines worth Modelling ” by Hughes,it looks very simple build!.

Not seen the book but is it like the Fowler Farmers engines which were basically a compound A7 with a double drum slung under neath. I have toyed with the idea of modifying one of the MJ eng compounds to one of these.

Hi Jason,its not a plougher but if you look at photo no 1 photo dump A on TT it shows this model,it looks like a good starter for a novice.

I now believe its Wilsons 1849,Blackgates only do general arrangement drawings no castings, any further help required.

Do you have the book, looking at one on e-bay it says there is a chapeter on this engine.

 

Not seen another one about but as you say looks a fairly simple build, those underslung cylinders could be fabricated without too much effort.
