I started to print some name tags on my Creality Ender 3 when I noticed the nozzle was not printing at the top right. There was blue tape on and it looked as if the nozzle was touching down and being blocked. No damage appeared to be being done so I let the print continue.

OK so the bed needs levelling – no problem with that – but should it suddenly need levelling after being fine for a year or so (and I have checked it a couple of times in the interim with no alteration being necessary)?

It is not the need for levelling or how to do it that I am wondering over but the sudden need after being stable for so long.

      Anyone any comments/suggestions?

Earthquake, member of family or pet. Possibly something else, but I'd suspect those first (in reverse order).

The instructions for my 3D printer say the bed should be levelled before every use !

I think that is excessive, but clearly they do expect the thing to move.

              Hello

It's those springs. All it takes is a little knock or rough handling when removing a part and the bed shifts. The bed should be levelled when the bed is hot because it distorts. This is why in installed a levelling probe on mine. The probe does a 9 point test before every print and adjusts the print to suit.

              regards

              Steve

I replaced the stock spring on mine with the orange ones every oriental seller seems to have. I now rarely if ever need to level my bed. Very worthwhile upgrade for a few quid.
