Since I am not expecting to build a Stepperhead, or to go CNC, very little, or no, time is spent reading the articles. However, other articles, whether making devices, or refurbishing machines and the like do contain items of interest, and the info can be filed, literally, or mentally, for future use.

One day, these things do come in handy, as a means of solving an immediate problem, or , directly or tangentially.

You will never please all the people all the time, and if the content departs too far from your interest, it makes sense to leave, albeit reluctantly. My Amateur Photographer subscription lapsed because of the increasing emphasis on Photoshop. So in some respects, I have lost out., but not enough to cause renewal.

The same will go for our magazines. Not being a loco builder, no M.E. sub; and E.I.M sometimes gets close to the cliff edge!

There is a VAST amount of experience and expertise in various fields, displayed in the magazines, and on these forum threads, which I enjoy, and from which I learn.

So take the rough with the smooth, and benefit!

      Howard

Today received my second ME from this subscription ( 4493) so assume the arrangements are satisfactory. So far, no sign of the 'Free Gift'. Does anyone know what the delivery time-scale is for these items?

Ref the digital editions is there another / better way to view them than "Magazine Viewer"? I do find it a clumsy piece of software particularly in downloading mode.

The Pocketmags Silverlight viewer is a bit better in some situations than the one on this site.

              Hello Bill

Usually within 28 days of the sub going 'live' if it's longer than this I suggest you contact Kate direct, I'm sure you have her email,

                Hi Gents

I've been digital for some time now and would like to hi-light ,

read them anywhere is acheived with a laptop so the pile of mags is only 1" thick and will always weigh the same

the wheat from the chaff can be printed or (saved as) be fitting your software skills I've started my own 'Best of Folder'.

I need not use a magnifier the zoom in on mag reader/viewer will far exceed my dodgy eyesight,

I can sit and read with a cuppa and bacon sarny,

when on hols or away from home can get the new release without waiting,

                Need I say more

                Rufus

Just as a note how many of the readers still do not use any electronic aides to support thier craft/pleasure like (CNC, DROs, Powered tables, Screw cutting gear boxes, etc ) at what point does tech stuff become the demons seed.

Deed done, MEW cancelled at end of current subscribed period. Sad but necessary.

The underlying assumption being that the reader already has a laptop/iPad to read the magazines "anywhere" on. (It would hardly be economic to purchase such a device simply to read the digital edition of MEW/ME)

I do not have any electronic devices, apart from the wireless and desk top computer, apart from any other reasons i-pads etc. do not work round these parts.

Just recently taken a sub for MEW and first copy came today, nice mix of articles. Don't take ME as it seems nearly all about locos in which I have zero interest.

I only use the screw cutting nothing else. Od school

                              Farewell Ken! Hello Roger!

Not wanting to steer readers from MEW to ME (those subscribers are mine! MINE I tell you!). Even so those who haven't read it for a few years should be aware that Diane is working very hard to make sure the steam loco content is healthily balanced by other subjects.

That's nice news, keep up the good work Diane!

I've long though ME would be better called ML (Model Locos).
