A friend has an EM200 DRO unit 3 axis and wishes to move that to a milling machine, chester 850_VSR mill which has only two axis. He would like to use the glass scales on the mill which are already fitted with two glass scales. The EM200 was fitted with magnetic scales on his old mill but when I plug an original glass scale into the EM200 there is no readout. In the manual it gives the pin out for the plugs using magnetic scales is there a standard for all scales. EMS International whom he bought the unit from seems to have disappeared during covid so not sure how to find out the info for scales etc pin out.

In short, there is no standard.

Have a look at the TouchDRO site as that has a lot of useful information.

The scales will likely have the same signals, power and ground but possibly mapped to different pins. In another context, all the right notes, just not necessarily in the right order.

If you buy solder pot DB9 male and female connectors, you can make a converter lead (cf. cross over cable).
