      Good day everyone !

A few questions about an Emcomat 7.

      • Is there any felt for oiling and cleaning the ways ? Manual does not show any info or location. If so, is there any information about felt thickness ?

      • Any chance of acquiring a new half-nut knob ? It is working but the edge / end of the lever is missing, seems that somehow a previous owner managed to break it.

      • Any info on gearing ? Are they module 1 gears ? Bore diameter ? Are all Emco gears interchangeable ?

      • What kind / viscosity of oil should be in the geared head ? Quantity ?

Thanks in advance, have a nice day !

          HiHarry,

I have an Emcomat 7 (metric version) including the milling attachment.

          Your questions:
          (1) See page 19 (PDF 20) file (emco.or.at)
          (2) ???
          (3) ???
          (4) See user manual page 28 (PDF 29): **LINK**

And this forum also contains information about other "members of this Emco-family":

          Hope this helps.

Good luck & Best regards from The Netherlands,

            Good day !

            Thanks for the answers !

            (2) is part n.11 on page 17 (PDF 18) of the PDF you provided. Is there any way of repairing the outer part of that lever – the thin one.

            (3) are the change gears – found it on the second link you provided.

            Thanks again

              @jasonb

I used to have an Emcomat 8.6 and I don't think you will find replacement levers or repair easy, the diecast metal they and a few other parts were made from were prone to failure so any spares would have long been sold.

You should be able to work out what the gears are by measuring the OD and counting the teeth, if MOD1 then the diameter will be 2mm larger than the tooth count so for say a 20T gear it will have an OD of 22mm.

When my can of Emco head oil ran out I just used a 32 weight hydralic oil

Wiper felt each side of the cariage behind the thin metal plates, shown on the PDF parts manual

Thank you Jason, I guess I have to disassemble the carriage a bit and check the felt dimensions and thickness.

As for the lever, it might be a good idea to machine out a replacement

                  A few updates :

                  – Wiper felt is 3 mm in thickness

                  – Manual says SAE 10 for the geared head oil

                  And a few questions :

                  – Any info on where can I find the tumbler gears, as well as the leadscrew half nut ? They are missing. Could I possibly fabricate a half nut ?

I managed to 3D print a pair of tumbler gears, will see how they hold up.

                  – Does anybody have some info on this lathe chuck ? Lathe's s/n is stamped on it – on the back, as well as that "0" that you can see on photos. No other marks.

                  Thanks in advance
