        Hi There

I have just been offered an Emco 7 and milling attachment which I am buying.

        Both are 3 phase.

Does anyone have a 3 phase version of either of these?

If so, what are the motor options?

        Change motors to single phase?

Can they be run from an inverter by changing the motor tags or will I need a converter?

The price is so good, I could not refuse even if I have to buy a converter or inverter.

        regards David

David you may get a few more users on the Emco group who can help.

If the motor is suitable I would go for a VFD then you get variable speed and good torque. Should be a nice lathe, I had the fractionally larger Emcomat 8.6 (single phase)which shared a lot of the same parts.

            David,

My Brother has an EMCO with a milling head which came out of an engineering workshop, it has a three phase motor which he drives with a single phase to three phase converter.

I cannot speak for the lathe motor but if its the 4 speed milling head my understanding is that it is fitted with a 3 phase motor as standard but wired with a capacitor to run (with reduced performance) on single phase. Fitting a small VFD is the way to go.
