eBay from India?

Just seen this which may suit me. I’ve had eBay stuff from China without paying any extra but they were probably below the import threshold. Anyone had anything from India?

I have had several motorcyle parts from India off Ebay without any problems or additional fees / taxes, the latest being a rear carrier for my (Indian manufactured) Royal Enfield Classic 500 delivered last Saturday. 8 days from placing order to delivery, with the tracking information being updated along the way. Delivered cost was £33.59 for this item.

AFAIK Ebay are now responsible for collecting taxes on imports, so a UK Ebay listing should be all inclusive.

But that RT doesn’t seem much cheaper than buying from a known UK supplier – Chronos have something that appears very similar for under £75 delivered within the UK that also includes a few basic clamping parts. Easier to return within the UK if it isn’t up to scratch.

If you look more carefully on the Chronos site. You will find the exact same Soba rotary table AND clamp set for £62.40.

Chronos will take back anything that is faulty without a quibble. Why get one from India?

Not quite – £62.40 is the ex-Vat price. Vat inclusive price is £74.88 – or “under £75” as I said earlier.

Thanks for the comments folks. I have looked at several RT’s and cosmetically the Fox unit on eBay looked much nicer. I guess if it’s coming directly from the manufacturer they don’t have to share any profit and can spend a bit more time in finishing to a better standard? I’ll have another look at the Chronos version though. 😉
