      Hi I have been trying to get a SKF Dormer hand book for a friend as he likes my copy and I came upon this download and thought it may be useful to others as it gives much information on all cutting tapping drilling and milling cutters. also on sharpening information.

                I'm surprised that more people haven't downloaded the document as it shows all about tapping drilling and sharpening cutters, reamers, taps and lots of other information.

                  Oh Dear! I bought and paid for a paper copy some time ago. However; I can confirm this is a jolly useful publication. I must say I prefer reading the paper copy in bed, rather than the electronic copy. The paper copy does a soft landing on the floor when I fall asleep…

                    I'm afraid I've had a request to remove the link.

                    The handbook is still in copyright, even though it is no longer available as a paper purchase.

                    Plus some of the Russian download sites are a source of malware.

                        I seem to remember that an individual is allowed to make a single instance of a patented device, for personal use or study, but not for resale. Patents are, as you say, Michael, public documents.

                          Why not go for a legit version from Presto.
                          Presto councellor can be downloaded from

                          http://www.presto-tools.co.uk/Downloads
                          {bottom of the page}

                          Its got lots of data on drilling, tapping speeds and feeds for a variety of materials, milling rates and calculations as well as proper nomencclature of their cutting tools.
                          I got a pocket book many moons ago but i think its only available as a download currently

                                        If one is interested in tool and cutter sharpening then this book is excellent for the practical bloke at home **LINK**

                                        Some of the best few $ that I ever spent on a book! My copy is showing so many signs of wear and pencilled notes that whomever inherits it shall either scowl (seller) or love the content (machinist).

                                        The Dormer cattledog is useful but contains not much that has been published before. They do make great tools though!

                                        Dormer 5% Cobalt cutting tools are great on a Minilathe. Better than normal HSS but more realistic than inserted tip carbide tools on a low powered lathe.

                                            Simple enough, if it's legal to use/share the material and you are not infringing anyone's intellectual property rights you have the necessary permissions.

                                            It's not unknown for forum members to share things they don't have the rights to and when this is realised or pointed out to us we take the material down.

                                            The best way (and what i try to do) is link to third party material if there's any question – like those loctite manuals, link and let people download from Henkel, we don't have permission to host a pdf copy on this site.
