I have to disassemble the spindle then this unfortunately was a little crooked. So it can be when buying used items.
This machine is available under a variety of names.
So if anyone can help me with instructions to mount the spindle down without ruining anything, I would be happy.

cant help with spindle . But I notice in No. 2 photo . there is a large gap between the head and the stop on the pillar . elf and safety . slide it back under and lock in place . if you swung the head round at the moment the head would drop and my do some damage or injury . Bertil,

Apart from the colour it looks the same as my Naerok. Mine has quite a lot of runout on the quill and I have just replaced it. Sorry I can't help with your problem

              Nobby,

The head is fixed. That ring is the upper locator for the rack to raise the table. Sadly, not like a Fobco.. Kind thought though.

PS If anybody wants the Naerok its free for collection from Tadley.

That drill is identical to mine but mine is branded Nu-Tool.

I have owned it for exactly twenty years now and it has always done as asked.

The only issue I have is that the handles to lower the quill have come loose and the threads are shot.( The three round bars with the balls on the end are loose in the capstan)
If anyone has a fix for this I would like to hear it.

                graham.

Oh, yes – mine is green!

I haven't checked but this might be an article about replacing the spring with a tensator spring. If it is the article I remember it probably has some information for taking off the original spring and reworking the spindle rack fit.

Hi, if it is assembled like the old Alpine then its quite straight forward

with the spindle in the raised position you need to remove the coiled tensioner spring

next remove the 3 handles and gently pull out the splined shaft

once this is out you can now -by hand- lower the main shaft out as a unit

once out there will be a couple of circlips to be removed and then the inner shaft can be removed

you now have access to all of the main components – had to do this to my Alpine to change the Taper roller bearings the other month

                    cheers
