          Wilf,

I too was interested in this, as I am suprised there isn't such thing as a 5" gauge 8F. I was advised the best option was to scale up Martin Evans' Euston from 3.5" Gauge. Another option is to use the 7.25" gauge drawings from 17d Miniatures and scale them down (I would think these would be the better drawings to use) Although their website seems to be down at the moment.

            Hi Wilf.

I have nearly completed my "version" of the 8F. I started by upscaling the Martin Evens "Euston". Also i was lucky to have the plans for the 5" gauge Don Young designed "Black Five" which i used to make the motion work and cylinders from. The 8F has been steam tested and i am in process of stripping it for final painting. The only give away is the "hybrid" coupled wheels as i could not source the "vee style rim" Stanier wheel being 5" diameter for model.

            Denis.

              Hi
I’m new to the forum and just stumbled upon this topic, I am currently looking at building a 5″ gauge 8f (not fully decided between a horwich crab and an 8f yet) I was just wondering if anyone had any advice that has tackled an 8f build, I see that some platework is available from model engineering laser and black 5 castings can be used too. I’ve seen a few people talking about building one but never seen any pictures of any complete just wondering if anyone’s got one to show off?
              Cheers
              Adam
