I am sure that sometime in the past I read about some errors on the drawings for Maisie in 3 ½". I have tried searching and have failed miserably. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be really grateful. Thanks in advance – Bob

Hi Bob, Not specifically answering your question, but a friend of mine built a 31/2" Maisie back in the 1980's, as I recall there were no problems with the running gear, but when I was building the boiler there as degree of difficulty in getting heat for the silver solder to the front of the combustion chamber without melting the vertical water tubes.

In the end we opted for the alternative non- combustion chamber boiler.

            Can't think of anything else.

            Regards

Seem to remember something about boiler backhead and reverser position, agree about boiler, go for non combustion chamber version.

Thanks for the answers FMES and Baz. The bit about the backhead and the reverser position does stir my memory and maybe that was what I was remembering.

                Thanks again – Bob

I built a Masie and found that the reverser frame needs to be moved to the rear of the footplate for a bit more operating room, as in the position shown on the drawing the reverser when in full forward gear is nearly up against the backhead making it difficult to hook a finger around to move the lever back to mid gear or reverse, and that backhead gets hot !!

                  Mike.

Thank you MichaelR and Boiler Bri – I'm pretty sure I was thinking about the reverser and I failed to find a website with drawing corrections. Bob

Bob, Mr Alan Stepney used to keep a compilation of known errors for many engines and locos on his website before he passed away a few years ago. The errors on drawings thread is still listed on ProBoards but when I tried the link to Alan's site it said the site could not be found. Maybe someone else has taken over the stewardship of the data but I don't know who that is, sorry.
