        Hi,

I am trying to research double acting petrol engines and a friend has told me that ME V95 no 2370, p353 has an article by George Goodman on this subject. I am not sure if this is a full size or model engine. Is anyone able to access this issue and confirm what the article is about?

        Thanks Peter

Hi Peter, it seems to be an information artical for the full sze engine, no suggestion of a model.

          Regards Nick.

P.S. apparently there were three four stroke engines bult in 1927/28.

There was a very interesting 4- cylinder horizontally opposed double acting four stroke engine designed and built by Tom Pascoe at the Model Engineer Exhibition at Sandown Park last December. It won a Silver Medal if I recall correctly. The ‘outer’ cylinder heads were conventional, but the pistons had trunk guides, so that the ‘inner’ ends could be sealed.

Tom produces some very unusual engines. His previous ones were a variation on the Cross rotary valve system.

              Regards

There was also the Mery engine of about 1890. Double acting 6(?) stroke. Casting kits are available from Morrison & Marvin and is a very popular engine build in the US.
