I would be surprised if that turns up. Do you want to know anything in particular about this motor?

What am trying to find out is what is A B and C as in Data sheet for type A reversing switch for Dewhurst SDR52 switch are connecting to in motor but have no data sheet for motor.

Do you have a picture of your motor terminal block and the plate with the motor details?

Thanks Mike yes been having some problems retrieving it from my network printer the location of the memory cards seems to change weekly

I am sure this is siple but just dont want to blow up a second motor, As you see it has V1 V2 and V2 have been told its connected in DELTA

The diagram you have posted is for a 3 phase motor wired in star, is the motor you have an unknown quantity or have you had it it in service? Some 3 phase motors have just 3 terminals and are usually wired in star for running on 415v 3 phase. One of the common options is for a six terminal block with links to wire the motor in star or delta, refer to the info plate to decide if you should be in star or delta.

A, B and C are likely marked as U, V and W on your motor, if it is simply a 3 phase motor.

The three phase connections should all be equivalent, so not important which connection goes to which terminal.

Direction of motor can be reversed by changing over any pair of motor connections.

                      Edit:OK, V1, V2 and V3 for yours.  Unimportant difference.

That is wired in star connection, the three studs that are not linked can be regarded as A,B,C so connect three wires as shown in the diagram, it will not matter what you call a b or c on the terminal block, you can swap any two of your three wires to change the direction if you have a preference which position the switch is in for forward.

The rating plate says the motor is made for 415v in star so if you are running from 415v 3phase leave it as it is.

I just looked at the connections again as gave you duff information in need 415 volt

                          I have connected as default

                          W2——–U2———V2

                          U1           W1            V1

Unlike my Brooks motor this one is dead easy to reconfigure to delta if you want to use it with a VFD.

The three terminals linked together make the star point and the plate says this connection is fo 380-415v, the delta connection is made by removing the links from the star connection and replacing them in a vertical connection as your picture shows them, there should be three separate links in the delta connection and the star connection only requires two so the spare is usually doubled up on one of the star links.

Brian is this configured in star . If i understand you correct I need toconnect a b &  c to U1  W1 V1 does it matter in which order?

If you call U1,W1,V1. A, B, C then you should be good to go. If your supply is 415v then leave the motor in star as shown in you picture, do not connect this motor in delta to run on 415v. As Brian says, if you wish to use this with a single phase input inverter then it is simple to change delta.

It will not matter which order you connect ABC and you can swap any two to change the direction if you want to.

There seems to be some misunderstanding about VFDs and three phase motors here – I think.

A 415 three phase motor can be run off a 230V input three phase inverter. These are different to a 230V output type of three phase inverter as the output will be 415V. Different price too!

I have both. An expensive 415 output runs a motor wound star and likely difficult to convert to delta. The 230V output inverters are the cheaper and more common variety. Better to break the star point, rewire in delta and use the cheaper alternative, if possible.

Hi 'not done it yet' I dont have a VFD As lost confidence with these devices and wanted something that would work , Its running of this MotoRun Phase converter through a Dewhurst Reversing switch currently. You need to check the engine plate for what the motor will run they are all differant. Its quite a challange. Having built a gear box I can alter speed here by changing pulleys and didnt think the VFD I had used gave power though out the range of speeds. Thanks
