Michael you should know by now that members can't edit after a certain time.

I've done it and it does make a big difference to the resulting part

        .

        Jason,

Yes, I do know that … But I thought it more appropriate to ask Paul

… A fresh posting from the author, with the correct numbers, would have been seen as a proper corrigendum.

        .

For the record … The suggestion that I made to Paul on 28th is now superfluous.

I all ways liked the use of the terms bare and full when applied to sizes.

Trying to get back to what I think was the original point (thread)

Ok so all of you experienced model engineer don’t need tolerances on dims.

So maybe two grades of plans need publishing..
Beginners. .correctly dimensioned and tolerances expressed on the plan..
All carefully checked so say 100 mm is 100 not 10.0 as sometimes seems to happen..
Maybe even with tooling /material lists..

And type 2 for the more experienced…

A photo of completed model..well you all know how to make it..so you need no more..

Beginners plans priced at say a competitive price and pro plans at twice that..since they are only beginners …and pro’s know the true value that beginners wouldn’t get..
Yes all the above is ment jokingly..but listen to your selves sometimes

            ..

Hi Andy, I'm not quite sure I understand your way of interpreting what a clearance is. .

                Regards Nick.

Sorry about that . Clumsy writing on my part.

I thought I had explained, where I wrote about halfway down in brackets for the benefit of newcomers that clearance means "fit".

I was, in my way, trying to explain the difference between tolerance and fit. I should have added that negativeclearance is correctly described as an interference fit and no clearance at all, that is size on size, is a transition fit.
