Digital Magazine Flash Problem?

I am experiencing problems with access to digital magazines.

Model Engineers' Workshop.

It loads it Firefox Flash but after some 10 pages it stops loading, indefinately.

I have tried to clear cache, I have restarted the loading of the magazine.

I have tried Internet Explorer, to the same effect, only to see there is a little icon showing an error on the page, with no more particulars.

Often the problem is gone after a few hours.

I have ADSL access with 384 kbps. Soon to have a 1MB line

What can I do to remove the problem?

I have now more behaviour information available:

I can browse (yesterday evening, Saturday GMT + 2 hours, @ 20:00) about 10 pages then it hangs. I then switch over to Internet Explorer and then I can browse about 10 pages more before it hangs. Then I have to switch back to Firefox until it stops responding at all.

Now, Sunday 11:00. It is even more slow.

Trouble with flash is you have to keep updating it or certain application stop working, like the BBC's news pages.

It's the spawn of the devil. It's about the only bit of Adobe software I have on my machine as most of their software are no better than virus's.

That nice Mr Jobs had a very good point when he refused to allow Flash on the iPad.

… and the harder Adobe tries, the worse it seems to get.

You are obviously not into photography then!

( Although the amount of time I spend at my computer working on images might well be described as excessive – or maybe that should be obsessive. Oh – is obsession a virus? )

I have found that there are usually alternative to what Adobe have to offer.

I use Foxit as a PDF reader and editor, very fast and cheap.

What little bit of photo work I do is handled by Inkscape or Ifranview, both free programs.

For the occasional use you may well be right. I have in excess of 20,000 images in my Adobe Lightroom catalogue andI have done some work on most of them. I think you will find that pretty much anyone involved in photography or graphic design will be using Adobe products. They offer very comprehensive facilities and are pretty much the industry standard for image cataloguing and manipulation. I don't understand your comments about " no better than virus's." ? (I'm not including flash here – I don't know about that)

I notice that a lot of people here seem to use Firefox. I was told yesterday that Firefox stores passwords in clear text – might be worth verifying if you use it for secure applications like online banking.

Hello Steve!
Good evening.

As much as I know I'm afraid I have to say it is not so. Firefox uses an internal encrypting function to encrypt the password and then saves it in the encrypted form in a file or in a data base. Then if you want (and only you can activate the option from inside) it shows you the password (using the internal decrypting function).

That is the same technique used by many software products some of them managing very highly valued information (like the Data base management systems – e.g.: Oracle RDBMS).
I use Firefox or one of its ancestors since mid 1990s and never felt insecure with it's way of securing my passwords.

Internet banking? huh! I have the most secure password in the world for that – it`s called, "DONT!"

All the time my bank will let me `get away with` phone banking + keep it off "thiefnet," so I will.

You can use anthor digital magazine software to create new digital flash magazine.

Each software has different compatibility.

Hi all Like you I am having problems with Flash Reader.On my PC running windows XP everything is woorking fine. But It will not work on my laptop running windows 7, Both have Flash Player 11.
