      Hi There
I am told that the following have been corrected.
      Any missing pages are adverts.
My internet connection is too slow to check them but no doubt I will be told if there are any errors.
      regards David

No. 85 (which I see has not yet been rescanned) has page 3 out of order, and pages 54, 55, & 56 are blank.

            Hi David
            Just a suggestion.
Why not make the pdf downloadable? If I have printed the issue, I doubt i I would go back to it.
            Eddie.

              Hi There
Do that and everyone would be selling them on Ebay.

                Hello.
Some rescanned issues have some problem about some parts of the text.
For example on issue N 109 , most of the text is unreadable, there is something like “superposition “.
Its also the case on other rescanned issues. What has happened?
                Regards.

                    Hi There
We think they are being accesed as we work on them.
                    That is causing the errors.
                    Should be ok by tonight.
                    regards David

So, when scanned properly and all in order, when and how much are the CD’s for MEW and ME., mentioned in the Ferris wheel clock thread likely to be??

(You want Young’s Modulus for TP304L stainless and you ain’t going to get it for free!)

Call yerself a model engineer? You should be able to measure it for yourself

More seriously, 100+ years of ME online would be a great thing. I am slowly modelling a Vickers Vulcan, and found an on-line facsimile of a 1930’s article (in The Aeroplane IIRC) about the still-incomplete prototype, with isometric views of key parts and a three-view to scale and much bigger than a tiny version I already had. There’s no way I would even have known that source existed.

If the online issues are ‘googleable’ they could bring many new converts to ME and the hobby.

I can’t afford a full set of ME, but I’d love to be able to pick up the sources for some key articles – even see some pages from back copies I do have properly, not sucked into the binding! I’m especially interested in E.T.Westbury’s writings, I think he was a greater writer than even LBSC, dare I say it (spits, crosses himself, sprinkles salt and turns round three times)

I think the existing sub should entitle you to a certain level of access free (2 or 3 issues a month?) then a suitable micro-charge for more?

One big appeal – David, may we have the first few issues of ME online, plus maybe the 50, 100 and a few other anniversaries or key dates?

                          Cheers,

Re the rescans of MEW-079 to MEW-112.

#94 has 38 pages total; #96 has 44 pages (most of the others are around 68 pages).

Were these really such sort editions or are there still pages missing?

Besides impairing or destroying the usefulness of the table of contents of the individual magazines and the cumulative indexes that will undoubtedly be available soon, omitting advert only pages causes other problems!

Adobe Reader has viewing feature in the Page Display menu called “2-Up”. This presents 2 facing pages presented side by side, just as if you had the magazine open on a desk in front of you. For instance, pages 18 and 19 in MEW normally face each other, so as you page through the magazine, a title spanning those 2 pages is visible in its entirety when paging thru the magazine. If you have a large enough screen or multiple screens, this is a very nice way to read PDF files, since more info is visible at one go.

An example is found in MEW No. 119, pages 18 & 19. There you will find the article “Drill Grinding With the Quorn Tool and Cutter Grinder”. In the digital copy, instead of these facing pages presenting the title visually unbroken across two pages, the omission of an odd number of advert pages earlier has caused pages 17 and 18 to face each other, and pages 19 and 20 to face each other. The title is split across the 2-Up display, when it should be a visually integrated title spread across the 2 open pages.

So instead of trying to save space by not scanning advert only pages, please scan the magazines in their entirety. Besides, at some distant time in the future, these adverts will be just as interesting as the articles!

                                    Hi
At this stage, Digital copies can be viewed, and printed. Software is available to print to PDF format. The problem is that the thirdparty application used to view the PDF’s uses up a lot of bandwidth to display the pages in animated format, and require Flash viewer to be installed. Other magazines on this site is downloadable in PDF Format.

The argument about selling copies on EBAY.
The people looking for copies want the original, as they most likely are collectors.
If I were a collector I would not pay for a copied copy of the magazine.

Please reconsider the suggestion to make the copies downloadable as PDF files.

I cannot print issue No. 16. When I do a print request, it prepares all pages 1 through 61 with no problems, but gets stuck at page 62. I attempted to print pages 63 through 76, but it gets stuck again, never issuing any messages about preparing any pages.

Oddly enough, I can view all pages just fine, but I can’t print pages 62 through 76. I have the latest version of Flash, and I have tried emptying out my temporary internet files folder; nothing made any improvement.

I would like to purchase subscriptions to the Digital versions of ME and MEW.  I am a pilot and my location changes quite often an I don’t want to deal with the hassle of updating my mailing addresses all the time.  I enjoy the digital archive I purchased of MEW but I am really after ME.

Addition to the print problem on issue No. 16. If I request printing only pages 1 thru 62, it will print successfully. However, I cannot request printing of any range of pages that includes any pages in the range of 63 thru to the end.

I noticed a number of the MEW digital back-issues that had problems seem to have been fixed. Perhaps related to a recent shutdown of those pages for “essential maintenance work”?

In any event, thanks and Is there a listing anywhere that shows all the issues that were fixed?
