Hopefully in the right thread; I seem to remember some time ago that MEW digital issues were available for sale on CD / DVD disc, issue 1… ? for about £14-15, is this facility still available & where would I get hold of an up to date one?

      TIA.

      George.

They are pirate copies and we've had t move mountains to get eBay to pull them.

Use the money to upgrade to a digital sub and get access to the online archive and help me feed two dogs and a cat.

DVD's are old hat now. What about releasing legitimate copies of MEW on a USB stick?

I saw those on ebay. Went from issue 1 to 160 or so. So missing about 80 issues up to date.

Already subscribed / have access to digital archive; & hard copies delivered…just raised the question out of curiosity, you know when something pops up from the distant past & raises the question thinking

rest assured your 2 dogs & cat are catered to for the next two years. Thanks for the replies.

We were on the verge of producing a DVD of MEW, more than £14 but much cheaper than the price charged by many American magazines. We had a change of staff ad it 'faded' I will see what we can do.

Unless something gets done 50 to 100 years of ME from 1898, with about what, 3000 years of human effort within its pages, will be lost in the next 50 years to the ME community.

As old magazines on tatty paper disintegrate and become unusable only a few places will still have access to that unique historical record of ideas and skills

I presume that eventually google books will put it up, as it has with other publications

Supported the dog and cat fundsmiley and changed my subscription to a digital one. If I stop subscribing at some time in the future can I still access the copies I've subscribed to?

Main reason for changing is that the shelves in the workshop could be put to a better use than storing several kilos of old magazines that only rarely get consulted. Once I get full access I hope that the online archive is suitably indexed so I can search for items of interest

Answer is "no" in each case. When the subscription runs out, you lose all access. There is no index in the archive itself but there are several third part indexes available.

Thanks for the info. Next silly question indecision, how do I download my latest copy of MEW, I can read it OK in the PocketMags reader but can't find a download link/button? Also how am I supposed to see the archives on my PC when I don't use Flash Player. HTML5 is now the preferred option.

                                              Cheers John

Ditto… hence the original question; my original thought was that having an updated disc on hand would eventually alleviate going through all the old hard copies.
