Since a number of problems have been noted with the magazines in the digital archive and DC has indicated he will take it up with the people who produced them, I thought I’d add the following observation that might be looked into at the same time:
I’ve noticed that, in many cases, photographs exhibit a moiré pattern. This is usually the result of an interference pattern generated when the scanning frequency is close to the dot frequency of the original, lithographed pictures. Decent scanner software should have settings in the driver to remove these artifacts or perhaps it can be removed in post-processing (I don’t know).
In any event, the moirés downgrade the quality of the copies quite a bit and it would be nice if they could be removed.
