Thanks for posting this. I looked at the dressing part of the video and may try the oilstone method. Up to now I have been using a white dressing stick sold for the purpose.

There is a diamond wheel dressing attachment. it is a special grinding wheel on an arbour which you clamp or put on a magnetic table till it just touches the diamond wheel, wind accross put a cut on and repeat till it is cleaned up.

Found it. Didn’t ice a capital D.  !  There’s a lot there.     Just viewed one about grinding end mills. By Mark Presling.    I modified my main bar by putting an extra vertical swinging arm when clamped in the correct position a fine adjusting screw to give the fine adjustment   He is correct, the adjustment knob is terrible. I removed mine completely.    I’m away this first thing in the morning.  and I’ll post a photo next week.

That’s a very interesting video, Vic … Thank You

In all honesty;  the total investment in terms of cost, space, and effort would preclude me from taking it on as a project … but I’ve learned a lot.

Agreed. I only arrived at this video as I bought a cheap Chinese Diamond cup wheel that was as bad as one of those in the video. I’ve trued it up somewhat on the lathe but still needed to do something with the cutting surface. I did try the technique in the video but I suspect my bench stone was too fine. I’ve ordered a cheap bench stone with a coarser grit to see it that works. I can use the wheel for less critical jobs if this doesn’t work so it’s not a complete loss given how inexpensive it was.

I’m now considering a plated wheel may be a better option. I’ve seen a few on folks tool grinders.

In my humble opinion if you go for a plated wheel go for the most expensive you can afford as this gives you higher diamond concentration and much much heavier plating depth which gives longer life.

I bought a cheap £4.89 bench stone with 120/240g from Amazon and tried to true up the grinding cup again and it worked perfectly. I used lamp oil as a lubricant as that’s all I could find at the time.
