I wonder if designspark are open to suggestions for changes to future versions of the software ? As to export formats etc.

The simple answer is if you want more formats, upgrade to Spaceclaim (i.e. pay for it) ; many of these free tools are offered at least partly to 'hook' some users who will decide to upgrade.

However – if the free version does enough for you, that's great.

File translation utilities for 3D CAD are often licensed from 3rd party providers, so actually cost the software company real cash – they don't take the decision to include these for free lightly.

Second try with the version Adi mentioned above went a bit farther in the installation, but then died and let the blue bar running backward… Seems my PC still misses something important for the installation.

I would have liked to check out this program, but it seems I have to stay with what I have (Alibre and Solvespace, for 3D)

I think if you have alibre you're not missing much.

I'm not getting much time on this, only a few stolen hours

Tonights task was a 2mm leadscrew on a 20mm bar

My pooter chip is starting to struggle with the calculations now

I've found a possible problem, the helpfile only has imported gearcogs, I have yet to find a 'produce a gear' tutorial

                Will keep searching

Note the bad toothcount for the given diameter

It is possible to use the "create patterns" option of move to give the right number of teeth. In this design the tooth form is just a spline. gear.jpg

Because the rendering is so good I wondered whether I could get this package into an old mini laptop I have.

An asus eee 7-inch with an intel celeron chip I have from 5 years ago and has windows xp on it

Well I can report 100% success with Designspark 1 so now I can be practicing making widgets while stuck for hours in front of the TV over xmas

It's not going to be workstation performance but apart from Downton Abbey I'm not looking forwards to the next 4 evenings

Can it be that you are a bit in behind, Adi? Here I am on DS Mechanical 5.0…

                            Regards,
                            Hans

Won't work on my 64bit W7 system hans, have tried many times

I only need a 3d sketcher for general guidance and detail with my projects

At the moment I'm doing a redesigned meek type clutch for a drummond M
