Dan Gelbart on YouTube calls this a "flexure".

I wish I could claim my own ingenuity for that one, but I think it might have also have come from HH, or an article in MEW 'back in the day'..

Cutting the slot off-centre and using screws of different patterns are style innovations of my own however..

I'm afraid much of my own tooling is made 'for my eyes only'..

I have milled a block of aluminium in a similar fashion to Diogenes II one, but I hadn't thought of the "flexure" design and may have left the gap too wide relative to the bed width. I will find out tomorrow when I go back to the museum. The collar on the rod is also a useful thought.
