Please can I make it clear that we will not allow further comments along the lines of criticising contributors for submitting or being paid for articles.

It is entirely up to contributors how they use their contribution, and it seems ridiculous to suggest someone trying to encourage others to contribute is acting out of self-interest.

Also, several contributors have generously provided free copy or accepted a reduced page rate during these difficult times.

We should all be grateful for their contributiuon.

Those who scorn the efforts of others should think about whether thy are confusing constructive criticism with the corrosive drip of cynicism.

I haven't received my MEW 299 but my local W H Smith has about 10 on the shelf (Usually just 3 copies the lady says!)

I was going to buy one but I thought that mine would appear from Royal Mail shortly but it appears not. W H Smith got their copies last Tuesday 30th of November.

This is getting silly. As someone said the mags are produced to make a profit. The sales have dropped significantly and I suspect the advertising revenue has dropped as well. I doubt MTM are making much of a profit at the moment. but the editors and staff still manage to produce the magazines

Perhaps MTM could embrace new distribution channels by publishing on Readly

Seems like the current situation has prompted new publishers to join at an increasing rate. Warners (who publish EiM) came on earlier this year & Mortons (motorcycle & other publications) came onboard a couple of weeks ago. I take Real Classic (Mortons published motorcycle magazine) on subscription & the Readly edition was up before my print copy dropped on the mat.

Wider, worldwide audience & paid for the content – what is not to like from MTM's POV ?

That probably sums it up nicely, Howard … but it’s 07-December now, and I have no way of knowing whether my copy is lost forever, or simply struggling its way through the distribution system.

Hence my occasional ‘status reports’

My copy of 299 arrived today. The post seems to be a bit erratic (understandably) at the moment. I have had a delivery from Tracy Tools within a couple of days, yet a book I ordered online took nearly 2 weeks

Mine arrived 30 minutes ago from Whitchurch (Shropshire) sorting office but I am still waiting for an Amazon order posted a week ago and supposed to have been delivered by Saturday, so I think the delay is in the Royal Mail delivery system.

Finally received MEW 299 and ME 4653 today – at about 6:00pm

While relieved they are here I still don't understand the guy at MTM subscriptions who assured me all issues of both were sent out on the 4th. Experiences related here seem to disprove this.

the 4th was the day the issue went on public sale (tho it seems a couple of shops supplied earlier) – the subscription numbers were nominally posted a week prior – in precovid days I would get mine on the Tues or Weds prior to public sale – #299 turned up late on the 4th so just prior to public sale.

Told emphatically by MTM's distributors that all issue 299 were sent out on the 4th – yet other received theirs on 30/11 so someone is mistaken somewhere – and as others had received them earlier I had no confidence in the information I was given.

Postie has been & gone and no magazine.

I have therefore complained to 0344 243 9023 (for the UK), me details have been taken, and I have been told that a replacement will be sent in about 3 or 4 days time.

Which means that Postie will probably deliver tomorrow! Thus ensuring then Murphy's Law does indeed exist.

I do seem to have upset the present delivery post man who sometimes delivers my mail to my neighbour. I also have the impression that the mail is slow at present.

Got my Model Engineers Workshop today in the post. Any delays to my post (UK) is almost always due to Royal Mail, they have horrendous backlogs according to our local postie, I'm still waiting for two parcels after nearly three weeks . Deliveries by carrier is usually pretty good.
