You can see a sneak preview of this automated screwcutting toolholder to be featured in MEW 328 and 329 HERE.

I should also add thanks to David for uploading such useful videos as well as producing a great article.

presume #328 is meant not #323 though judging from #327 proof reading is a dying skill.

I think the ramp makes setting the endpoint rather uncertain but otherwise like the idea. Another project to add to the list.

Frances, shouldn't you have a capital letter at the start of a sentence and maybe a pronoun before the verb? Possibly a couple of commas could be used to separate the clauses? devil

possibly – though don’t you don’t have to pay for my copy.

Not withstanding issue numbers (corrected) do people find content of this kind useful?

Thanks Neil for putting my efforts out there. I have just used it to make a new Morse 2 spindle for my M Type Myford lathe and with the correct thread full form insert it was so simple to use on all three threads. I hope my projects help and inspire others to make things on there lathes.

Yes, as I no longer buy every issue and the MEW content ad at the top of the forum appears to be stuck on "Minlathe Sharpen Mills and Drills", if an interesting article comes up on here it prompts me to nip down to the newsagents.

I am trying to guess if a swing clear or retract threading insert holder should be my next plaything.

                          What is best?

How about a swing clear operating on the rear upside down (for normal threads) with a release trip. The cutting force would then lift it off the cut as well as having a spring to throw it back out of the runout groove.

Somewhat similar function to an Ainjest unit then? A good idea anyway!

There certainly have been many excellent articles over the years in MEW and still they keep coming. Keep it up all, it's what makes the mag so interesting. I have taken it since no. 1 and really enjoy it. I often read articles in MEW and ME, in which I have no special interest but I still learn something new to me, methods, processes and different methods of achieving the same result.
